For artist Robert Carlson, meeting glass artist Tom Philabaum while he was working construction in Tucson, Arizona, in the 1970s led Carlson to a lifetime of creating glorious art in hot glass. During the last decade, the artist began a series of faces reverse-painted on glass bottles that includes The Twelve Apostles and Welcome to the 21st Century.

 

Jodie McDougall creates murrine with detailed portraits and other images. Her soft glass creations are among the best in the realm of contemporary murrine artists. Jodie’s creative process can span multiple years for a single piece and starts with an image or a thought that speaks to her.

 

Glass Art’s annual Directory of Industry Supplies is dedicated to making the buying and selling process between artists, retailers, and suppliers mutually beneficial. Alphabetical listings of companies as well as products and services provide glass artists with new sources for the materials they need in their creative pursuits.

 

Jared DeLong makes glass art in the relative isolation of his Northern California studio. He works a territory between soft and lampworked glass creating marbles, functional glass, tabletop objects, and small intricate wearables for private sale. His creations strike an impressionistic chord, often playing with technique, reflected light, and texture.

 

The International Society of Glass Beadmakers (ISGB) will be hosting an online auction on October 21–25, 2020, based around the book, Inspiration in Glass by Tanja Ostwald. The book helps ignite the passion for working with hot molten glass and pays homage to each of the 18 glass artists presented in its pages.
